LSUS Student Scholarship

This is a $1,000 scholarship for the Fall semester.  It can either go toward tuition or any other expenses (books, housing, food, etc.)

The recipient will be selected by the NWLA SHRM Board of Directors.  If selected this scholarship recipient must not allow for their GPA to fall below a 2.5.

Selection Criteria

  • GPA of 3.0 or greater in their major of Management
  • Overall GPA of 2.5 or greater
  • Earned 60 hours or more of college level credit
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in Human Resource Management (HRM).  Special consideration will be given to current members of the LSUS chapter of SHRM.

  • Essay Question
  • Minimum of 2 hours of volunteer/community service work
Essay Question

The essay question is different each year and will be determined by the committee before posting it to the candidates.

2019 Fall Question Options :  

1. In recruiting Human Resources professionals, what should be valued most: experience or education?

2. Describe the importance of HR’s representation at the top level of the organization, their value to the organization, and why they deserve a seat at the table.


Essay Due Date - November 5, 2019

Disclaimer: This scholarship may not be given each year.  In order for this scholarship to be given, the NWLA SHRM Board of Directors must receive more than 2 scholarship entries, and the essay must:

  • Stay on Topic
  • Keep to 500 words or less
  • Have an Introduction, Body, and coherent Conclusion.
  • Use Correct Grammar
