Northwest Louisiana Society for Human Resources Management (NWLA SHRM) was founded in 1957, and became affiliated with the National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 1977.   Today over 130 local companies are represented by its membership.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest professional association devoted solely to the Human Resources profession. Our local members represent employers in: Caddo, Bossier, Webster and DeSoto parishes in Louisiana, as well in Harrison and Panola counties in Texas.

Locally, we provide HR professionals with networking, program development, legal updates, and educational opportunities. Our chapter hosts monthly meetings to keep abreast of ever-changing vital HR concerns, as well as an annual conference/workshop that is hands-on learning for HR Professionals and Business Leaders. This is part of our organization’s continuing education     commitment. These programs are accredited for SHRM and HRCI  recertification.

Mentoring, inspiration, and giving to our future-NWLA SHRM believes in just that! We sponsor the SHRM student chapter from LSUS and raise funds locally to support education and advancement through our SHRM Foundation.   We encourage and foster future leaders in HR by awarding scholarships to deserving students in the Human Resources profession. 

We are a SHRM award winning chapter for service and accomplishments due to our group of dedicated volunteers. Our Board of Directors and various Committees serve selflessly year after year to create wonderful programs and initiatives that serve our local Human Resource and Business Community.
