About our speaker
Leah currently holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy (Healthcare Policy Concentration) from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Very diverse in her ability to educate others in what she has learned through matriculation and life experiences, Leah serves as an adjunct at four universities in three different areas of study; Political Science, Public Administration, Healthcare and Business. While working at these institutions of higher learning, in both full and part-time capacities, she has amassed 17 years of teaching experience. In addition to her academic portfolio, concurrently 24 years of her life has been dedicated to being a public servant in state government as an investigator of employment, banking and lending and public accommodation discrimination with the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights (LCHR) and as of January 2016, she was named the Executive Director. Leah has 21 years of experience as a certified mediator, trained by the Justice Center of Atlanta. LCHR works closely and has a partnership with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) requiring knowledge and understanding of federal EEO laws. Public speaking and training on Louisiana's EEO laws and issues are Leah’s forte and she has had the opportunity to speak in and outside of the state of Louisiana. Even further, she has previously served as the Diversity Director for the Louisiana Chapter of the Society of Human Resources Managers for approximately 2 years. Leah is also a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
